GARDNER — Mount Wachusett Group College’s automotive engineering system has been acknowledged by the National Institute for Automotive Excellence as assembly the strict industry expectations needed for ASE Program accreditation, according to a statement unveiled by the college.

“We commend you and your personnel for keeping your program’s specifications and continuing to meet up with the industry’s needs,” reported ASE President Michael Coley in a letter to MWCC President James Vander Hooven. “The explosion in automotive technological innovation tends to make your superior-quality automotive education plan far more valuable than ever.”

Recognized in 1979 by professor Peter L. Kaufmann, the automotive system was originally launched in restricted quarters in the college’s facility office. In 2019, construction started on a state-of-the-art facility on Linus Allain Avenue.

The new facility welcomed pupils throughout the height of the pandemic. Far more than 90 per cent of MWCC’s automotive technologies students returned to school in the slide of 2020, a level on par with the school’s well-liked nursing application.
