Indiana air excellent warnings brought on by smoke from western wildfires

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Smoke from western wildfires could have an impact on nearby air good quality this week, prompting Indiana to sign up for a increasing list of states issuing air high-quality alerts.

The Indiana Section of Environmental Management (IDEM) on has issued a statewide Air Good quality Action Day (AQAD) for Wednesday and Thursday.

The agency is forecasting large levels of great particles (PM2.5) in the air since of smoke from wildfires in the western United States and southern Canada in what IDEM referred to as a “one of a kind widespread party.”

Smoke from the wildfires, which include a two-week outdated blaze in Oregon masking more than 540 sq. miles, is affecting air excellent nationwide which includes some towns on the East Coast.

According to the National Weather Service's HRRR-smoke model, smoke from recent and ongoing wildfires has reached the Greater Cincinnati area.
